Quotes - Abigail Smith Adams (backdated)

"Do not put such unlimited power into the hands of husbands. Remember, all men would be tyrants if they could. "

"Deliver me from your cold phlegmatic preachers, politicians, friends, lovers and husbands. "

Abigail Adams, based on those words, she was one of America's first feminists.. but she has points.

And what do we have against feminism?

Abigail was one of my ancestors. She was absolutely super. It's unfortunate that our nation has never supported women presidents as she would have made a good one!

Nothing against femininism...

She had actual points in her words not like some of the stuff we see today. Had it been up to her, the question of slavery and women's rights (voting, property, and equal pay for equal work and equal qualifications) would have been settled at the signing of the Declaration of Independence and would have saved a lot of headaches and heartaches. One of the major factors of the Civil War would not have existed.

I recall reading that her husband pretty much blew her off when she asked him about settling those questions. I wonder if he got an earful in the great beyond with the four infamous words.
