Crypt Messages and Random Stuff.
When tossing up cryptic messages, one should be cautious as the wrong party might take offense. However, the following RP related items are pretty much things that just annoy me in general.
Drow in Middle Earth? Are you nuts? There were no spider worshiping Elves... correction, they might have worshiped Shelob, but puhlease... Dark Elf ala Tolkien does not mean Drow ala Salvatore!
And when mixing mythologies, it's wise to have an explanation handy as to why your character knows things from other mythologies. While living in Rhydin is a catch all for a lot of them... well... in some cases it doesn't work.
For instance.... Tolkien's brand of Elves may or may not have prejudices against Dwarves because that's how he wrote them. It has something to do with an insult escalating to a war. However, they do not automatically have prejudice against Drow Elves. In fact, there are a lot of critters out there that should not automatically have a reason to raise arms or be hateful toward Drow. Get with the damn program and research your character more carefully, some of them shouldn't know what a Drow is. And if they are mistrustful of strangers, well, that's ok, but it means ALL strangers.
And to clarify, if you RP in a Tolkien scenario, not a mixed genre one, THERE ARE NO DROW IN MIDDLE EARTH.
::in best Sister Mary Elephant voice:: Thank you.
Anyway.. I've become a Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy junkie. I buy things only when they are on sale and I smell soooooooooo good. That's controlling my money flow and giving me a lift. Today, I used sandalwood rose.
I feel bleah... but I have plans of sorts. I'm not planning to go out today, but tomorrow I need to. I will need to get money orders to pay for eBay auctions. I won this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:BCA:US:11&Item=8225956658 Kevin has two auctions in progress. Once the one closes out, I will be working on my stitchery.
I have a two sided towel in progress. Usually, cross-stitch towels only have one border, these have two. I'm doing two of them. It got me to thinking that I might be able to create my own towel borders and stitch them into place on some of the large bath towel.
For some time, I have kept a small notebook in my purse, beltpack, etc. to write down ideas. It's especially handy in Hobby Lobby. I was looking through those notes while on my last trip through and realized that I had followed through on all of those projects. Four of them were gifts, two of which will be sent out for Christmas, which is why I'm somewhat hesitant to post the pictures. My son needs to refinish those two. He's picky about his paint jobs.
I have several other craft (cross-stitch and plastic canvas) projects that I want to do, but am varying them to avoid eyestrain. Soap and candle making do not require that I use magnifiers of any type and therefore are my current main interest.
I need good batteries or a better plug in for my digi-cam's AC adapter so I can get pictures of my current stuff posted up. When using the adapter to take pictures, I get red lines on the pictures. Most annoying. I do have a couple to post, though.
Making a pot roast for dinner. HEB, one of the large grocery chains here, has a lot of great quick prepare type foods. Their pot roast runs about 8 dollars, feeds the three of us, cooks in less than 10 minutes in the nuke machine, and tastes awesome. They also sell mini ones in a five pack that are perfect for lunches, especially when packed with a frozen baked potato in one of those little Ziplock containers.
I came across a good deal at Wal-mart for when we have the gaming crowd over. Sara Lee meat and cheese Gourmet tray. It runs around 20 bucks. That I recall, my mother and great grandmother never let anyone leave their house hungry. It's one of the few things I have never argued with my husband over. I think it's a karma thing.
More later.
