And so...

Every so often, I get bogged down in things that are not so important in the grand scheme of things and forget, to paraphrase Reba McEntire, that there's life out there.

Sometimes, I feel the need to say something and, yet, can't find the words. I retreat to my quiet places; books, craft work, etc. This is becoming one of those times. I don't want any hard feelings with anyone, but in some ways I feel let down. It's not exactly anyone's fault, I just feel left behind. It's mostly my fault, I moved on, but only part way.Sometimes, we say things are fine, but they really aren't. There's the little voice in the back of our minds that says, "it's no big deal, I can do this," but the reality is even if there's no blame to be laid and things are just not what we hope, we are better off removing ourselves from certain situations. In order to fix it, we need to clear our minds, and let go for a while. Sometimes, we have to be selfish and take a few steps back to get a look at the bigger picture of things.

I'm thinking about getting one of these for the backyard. With the warm weather coming it will be nice to sit outside. It has overhead cover, so I'll be able to read or do my needlework without being sunburned easily. With my skin, that can be happen easily and fast.

Reading Drums of Autumn. Listening to I've Hear That Song Before and Just a Guy. Have several library books to read including a Robert B. Parker western. So, yes, my time will be occupied. I need to read to stimulate whatever stories are rumbling in my head and just not popping, yet.

Been playing Yoville and a few other games on Facebook. They pass the time. Going to start playing Sims 2 again. Maybe let a few of the families run amok!

For the DM people, I plan to have a character at the party Friday unless the other half wants to do something. After that, I'll be taking a break from public play there, I have no idea how long.

I'm surfing eBay and doing a bit of needlework today. Mostly, I'm trying to stay in my quiet place. It's not always easy. I have a lot on my mind.

I started Drums of Autumn and read about four chapters. Probably should be be editing logs to get a story caught up some, but I'm not feeling it right now. I am feeling something else ... some story brewing, but it's not quite there. It's like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The grail is just beyond the fingertips and just out of reach.

Doing more bagging and tagging. The sooner I get that finished, the sooner I can move to my story LJ and get things tagged and sorted over there. Jan 2007 is now done.

Not much else to say right now.

At times we all retreat to what we call our quiet or peaceful places. That is what the weekend looks like for me; reading, needlework, and maybe some time out with the other half. I might use Sunday for cleaning since Kevin and I usually got out on Saturday and Tom has spring break next week. We have a few things that should be done, but they aren't crucial.

I'm finally seeing part of the outline forming for this cross-stitch piece I'm working on. It's fairly small, but that's good thing. I don't seem to have the patience for larger pieces right now. It's a Chinese Dragon.

I have a few letters to write.

That about covers it for now.

So, here am again in the wee hours trying to figure out which end is up! I have a bit of writer's block. So, I'm going just write out my thoughts and see if anything springs to life in the story realm.

Every so often [livejournal.com profile] dalbino83 offers to do tarot readings. Some are lengthy and others are single card readings. If you are familiar with tarot at all, you know that one card can speak volumes. The card she pulled for me was Temperance. It's quite appropriate on many levels. The description of the card includes the following: Know thyself, says Apollo... ...through ecstasy, says Dionysus... for a balance of control and release is necessary...

Knowing yourself or learning to know and accept yourself can make life a great deal easier. In order to be happy with who and what we are, need to figure out just who this person is! Some see that word ecstasy and immediately think of sex. That's not a bad thing, sex is suppose to be a pleasurable act. There are, however, other means of feeling that level of happiness. To some people it comes through their their work, to others it comes through things they create.

Speaking of creating, I've been mulling over a few story ideas. I have a craft project in gear and the master bedroom is pulled apart. Will be finishing part of that today, taking apart another section and the wall scrubbing will commence again on Friday. Have bills to attend to this weekend.

That about covers things for now.

Oh, yes, cleaning out is cathartic.

Lj-archive, people. Downloads are here. Don't quote it as gospel, but it's supposedly multi-platform. It does work with Vista, but hell if I know if it works with anything else.

I managed to piece together something that passes as writing. I'm not quite happy with it, it needs more, but it's something.

Working on my latest craft project. Using the basic idea from the pattern book and remodeling it to reinforce it my own way. They supposedly design these things for kids and apparently don't think about how hard they can be on their toys! I realized while putting the pieces together that various kinds of furniture come to mind. A plant stand and an aquarium stand just to name a few.

The wind was so wild about 6 AM that I took my windchime in off the front porch. It has a wooden piece hanging on it and it clanks when it hits the pillar it's hanging from. I'm glad that everything out back seemed ok, though. Gathering up all that stuff in the freezing cold at 6 AM was NOT my idea of a good time.

Picked up a few things for that bathroom clean out that I've been going on about. Baskets, new curtains, etc. Still want a Swiffer.

Going to balance my checkbook, get the car payment and electric bill in the mail and see what I still have to work with.

We did an Austin run to see how the new car would handle it. Shopped and got neat things at Half Price Books, Tandy Leather, Ginger's Needlearts and Framing, and Dragon's Lair. I haven't been to Ginger's or Tandy Leather in several years, the latter closes at 4 on Saturday.

I haven't done leatherwork in ages, but I think it's time to dust off and improve those skills. Picked up a package of leather dyes, a bottle of protective sealer and some Celtic stamp tools. Should prove to be a good way to pass some time outside in warmer weather. At Ginger's, I found a few things; a lovely Celtic design, but mostly glass beads and small skein of lovely metallic thread.

In the last few days, I got to chapter three of Dragonfly in Amber, page 317 of 947. Current audio book is Mallets Aforethought. Can we say punny title?

Sunday, I plan to do the following:
Hook mouse, keyboard, and monitor to Kevin's Gateway and peel files off the Zip disks. I hope that goes well as I want to get back to writing again. All the files are stored there. To order a USB one would cost about 150 bucks... um... no, I think I'll try another way, but if anyone has a zip drive that will read 100MB disks and can use a few, drop me a line.

Write more cards out and get them ready for Monday mailing.

Do a quick run about the house, Monday will be busy. Meatloaf and potatoes or crock pot stew for Monday's dinner, but heck if I know for the rest of the week!

More later... off to annoy my Sims.
yellowrosetx: (Default)
This is the most recent of my finished projects.
yellowrosetx: (Default)
Read at least two chapters in a paper book. There's another thing off my list! I read three chapters in Dragonfly in Amber. My house is eh.. I dunno, half baked, but I'm not worrying over it. I still have plans of getting that closet done this week. I'm even considering painting it, might just wash the walls. Anyone have suggestions for a cleaner that won't peel the paint and won't be harmful to the environment?

I'm bagging and tagging Nov. 2006. Here's a gem from the archives! (4 entries remaining, longish ones, they will keep.)
And a hmm thing from the archives:
Joey Dallas: "Plato was gay."
Jessica Tate: "Mickey Mouse had a gay dog?"
from the TV Series, Soap.

Random Thinkage:

Some herbal teas should not be sweetened like Celestial Seasoning's Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride.

I like being able to open the back door and look up into the sky. I looked out tonight and saw Orion the Hunter just over my backyard. I was pleased with myself for still being able to see the star cluster (the Orion Nebula, that I had to look up!) in Orion's sword. Also a good memory test was recalling that the three stars in his belt actually have names. I remember A, A, M, but the last, Mintaka, stands out because Mintaka in some language or other means "belt." Most people that have studied constellations at all can tell you that Betelgeuse is a red star in this constellation.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get the last of the Nov 2006 entries finished today and this:
Cut the parts for my next plastic canvas project. (Some doll furniture, maybe a poll gift, maybe not) Not 100% sure on the doll furniture, might cut two projects at the same time.

This is our 28th wedding anniversary. Kinda makes me wonder where the time went!

We were invited, last minute, to attend a wedding tonight. It's informal, we are at least going to go and see them get married. It's at the local American Legion hall.

Bagging and tagging Aug 2006.

Saturday, we made a trip to Austin. (We go, maybe, twice a year anymore.) Dragon's Lair and Half Price Books were the main stops for the day. We came home with a shameless haul. My birthday isn't until next month, but I already got my gift from my husband. I've had my eye on the Chronicles of Narnia unabridged audio CDs for some time now, but they list at about 75.00. Half Price Books had them for 35.

Sunday is likely to be busy. The dog needs a bath as he's going to the vet on Monday. Nothing serious, an allergy shot. He does apparently have a touch of arthritis. In a nine year old dog, that's not all that rare. Monday, we also need to get Tom's school books squared away. His online classes begin at the end of the month.

Normally, I do my cleaning on Monday, but with the appointment scheduled, I might crank up Sims 2 in the afternoon and do the pick work during my loading times. Just basic stuff like laundry and dishes. Since we went out today, the yard was put on hold again. So, I might get that done after we get the dog home on Monday. Might have time for some of it after I get done inside. Have to wait until 4 PM or so when the sun is lower and the heat isn't so much.

Seems funny to be discussing heat when much of the US is getting colder and preparing for snow or, in at least one place, has already had it! I'm very much looking forward to the delivery and installation of our new back door. I think it will be nice to be able to sit out on that little cement slab that's supposed to be a patio and have natural light for reading and maybe needlework as well. I have a small folding table that can be hauled around easily. I've been discussing an awning or some other type of overhead cover for the patio with the other half. He wants one of those porch swings. I can deal with that! I still want overhead cover because the back of the house is in direct sunlight most of the day; in summer it gets very hot. This IS Texas after all.

I discovered that if you fry a voice post that it still counts against your total for the month, which is 20 for paid accounts. Ah well, live and learn.

Bagged and tagged to Jan 12 2006.

Figured out what to do with that one character that was in limbo, well sorta, and the other two that were stuck. Might spend the weekend writing, well Sunday anyway. Must make notes. Researched a few medieval things at this web site. http://www.florilegium.org/

The new Barnes and Noble opens next Wednesday. Rumor has it Sims 2: Apartment Life is due out the 27th.

Need to pay bills and get to post office by Monday.

Watched Pride and Prejudice with Ehle and Firth again. Still love it!

Did a bit of needlework and reading. One more panel to stitch on the pink photo album.

Going to go listen to Johnny Dollar and play a game. 4:20 AM

7:06 PM

I lazed about today, we had Domino's pizza for dinner.

I have four LT characters to write for. One of them, I know what I'm doing. More on that later.

I hauled out an old SEB character and took her over to DM. She played designated driver for a friend of hers. It was hilarious to see him hitting on all the women! :D

1:21 AM

Well, I'm going to try to write or something...
yellowrosetx: (Default)

I'm trying to focus on positive things. If not positive then productive.

I spent Saturday evening and much of the night indulging in the insanity that is Sims 2. I went through my Desiderata Valley neighborhood, all of 6 houses, to catch up on a few things. I also want to clean out some of the objects that are no longer needed. When I added the Kitchen and Bath Stuff Pack a whole slew of new appliance colors, etc. were added, so there's no need for many of custom content ones. Free Time has a lot of cool stuff in it and the new EP comes out at the end of this month!

I used the lot loading time to do a bit of needlework. Did a bit of reading as well. Ok, it was only two chapters, but, I rediscovered that during certain times of day my little office is the perfect place to work on stitchery or to read.

I got an ad for something called Magic Jack. It's a gizmo that allows you to make phone calls through your phone, computer,USB port, and broadband internet connection. Anyone else heard of it?

Monday, I have the usual stuff to do. It's one of those ... I should be, things. Housework is pretty well caught up, come cooler weather, I'll be get into larger projects like cleaning out my closet. There are clothes in there that no longer fit and need to go. Old makeup and who knows what else that ought to be tossed. Old papers that need to be shredded.

Silliness and Hmm things behind the cut.

And so ... I'm trying to focus on the positive side of life. The weekend has been peaceful, so far. I keep knocking wood every time I say something like that.  I don't need or want anymore shoes dropping. My roses are blooming all over the place. Must get pictures.

I have some lovely, relaxing Gonesh incense burning and am wrapped up in a snuggly blankie. Maybe a cup of hot tea is in order as there's a slight chill in the air, tonight.

I cleaned up the better part of the house while my computer was digesting the reinstallation of my software.

Friday, we went to Red Lobster for dinner. I tried their shrimp in lobster butter. It was very nice, but I prefer shrimp on the barbie from Outback. I indulged one of my addictions, Hobby Lobby. I came home with a spool of crochet thread and some lovely stones. That reminds me, I need to put the stuff in the proper containers.

Saturday, we went to Wal-mart for steel toed sneakers of all things.  The boys came to game in the evening, that leaves Sunday for a couple of things, but mostly relaxation.  Well... providing the youngin does what he needs to without a fuss. Need to get the grocery run done. Tim needs to get a few things done in his room. (So, what else is new?)

I got some more done on the pink photo album.

Sunday night...

or Monday morning, something like that. Kept the house in decent order, went grocery shopping, got the pet net up, and generally had the peaceful day I had hoped for.

Only drawback in that Saturday was the first night we had our windows shut in weeks and today my nose is clogging and my throat is a bit itchy.

Monday, I plan on sausage and spaghetti for dinner. Might get really ambitious and make dessert. Need to stay on top of the laundry pile and general pick up. Need to have Tom get his room in order again, get his laundry put up, get my leather kit out of his room. Need to get the two boxes I left in the kitchen sorted and the stuff put away. Next step is getting the figures on the table in the garage off and on their way.
yellowrosetx: (Default)
This weekend has run the gamut from  eh.. to great ... to insane. Maybe inane is a better word?

Once again we go back to this poll, three more people are still on my list of "need to make something." The most recent finished project is here. For the really curious, it's going to be heading out to [livejournal.com profile] ldygwynedd. I have a pretty good idea of what to do for two of the remaining three people on that list.

Friday night, I got in a bit of RP, but mostly, I played with my Sims. Saturday afternoon and early evening I had another Sims marathon session. I was working on stitching the cover onto the memory album, I decided that I was going to watch an episode or two of the A&E Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett. I never did get to that...  While I was attempting to remove the box of DVDs from the outer slipcover, I did a stupid and learned a valuable lesson. DO NOT stick my thumb into that push slot! I broke the nail and it was not pretty. Close to the quick as they say.  Ending up using sandpaper to file it as I couldn't find an emery board.

However, the night got better after that minor fiasco. An opportunity for RP presented itself and I had, as [livejournal.com profile] pharos_anchor likes to say, an awesometastic time.

That brings us to Sunday. I was all energetic and ready to tackle the big cabinet in the garage. In order to do a proper job of it, I had to clean the kitchen table so everything could be brought in for sorting and proper labeling. That meant putting away the bottles we got yesterday and rearranging some glassware. I got the liquor put up alright, but ... putting up the glassware was a bit of a challenge. I had the foresight to put everything on top of the fridge (the cabinet where I was storing them is over it). I got on the short step ladder and figured I'd be done in no time flat. Let me tell you, it was a good thing I was NOT hauling glasses up with me. Seems the twenty year plus old aluminum step ladder decided to give up the ghost right then and there. I remember thinking... "Oh, hell, NO, I am not landing in the hospital with a broken whatever again!" I did land on my ass and will probably be quite bruised in a day or so. Funny thing is, only my knee hurt until a couple of hours after the fact. Now, I have a dull aches in various parts of me, but my idea of a dull ache is someone else's idea of... "Holy shit that hurts!"

So, on Monday, I have three packages to mail; one to GA, one to CO, and one to FL. Hopefully, we will get the Explorer over to Midas to have the exhaust system looked over. I want to see if I can find sandalwood oil to make some soaps.  I have laundry and a few minor things to attend to, but should be able to get that cabinet done on Tuesday or wait until Wednesday when both of the boys are at work. Need to call Jessica and find out if Aaron got his box as the tracking receipt says a notice was left, but it wasn't picked up, yet.
yellowrosetx: (Default)
Some of you that participated it this poll (Yes, I know old post) still have yet to receive something. Three remain on the "What can I make" list.  Here's the seventh of ten. After searching and searching, I finally found something to make for the brand new grandma in Florida. I had started a similar piece for my niece, Samantha, and realized that grandmothers should have something to keep baby pictures in.

Tom got a job with Manpower. His current assignment is at one of the furniture stores in town. He's working days. This has prompted my husband to consider requesting day shift where he works. It would be nice to have dinner around 6 or so instead of 10 or to be holding dinner in the oven and not be able to get the clean up done until 10/11 pm.

It's been a pretty productive week. House is in good shape. ::knocks wood:: I need to get a shopping list together for Sunday. The boys should have that day off and we can do the shopping before the gaming mob arrives.

I have some writing to finish today. Got a model house (made in Sims 2) for one of my RP characters almost finished, still working on finding the medieval stuff.  Got the front of my January craft project finished!
