I'm listening to The Funny Thing Is...  by Ellen DeGeneres and The Book of Old Houses (Home Repair Is Homicide Mysteries)  by Sarah Graves. (Edit: Finished it) I really like Lindsay Ellison's narration. Some audio book narrators are excellent and others, well ... they make me snore.

I think one of the most terrifying stories I have ever read is by Ray Bradbury. It's called "The Small Assassin."  Maybe it's a good thing newborns are not mobile!

It's 5:30 AM (Saturday) and I should have been in bed hours ago, but I just can't sleep. I played a few games and finished one of my audio books.

Horoscope for Saturday:
Try not to worry too much today, CATHY. Take care of details and work to get things accomplished. Check things off your list and you will feel much better about yourself and the direction you are headed in. Keep your eyes wide open and try not to have tunnel vision on every issue. Give people the benefit of the doubt instead of giving them the third degree. Concentrate on yourself and what you need to do.

Working on bagging and tagging August 2005. (Saturday 6:18 PM done)

Sunday, 12:30 AM

Tom treated and we went to see The Spiderwick Chronicles. Very good movie! And.. And... AND we saw the trailer for the new Indiana Jones movie! Kevin and I were grinning like fools, it looks fantabulous!

Insomnia totally sucks. Supposed to be going to one of Kevin's favorite shops to see if they have anything waiting on him in his subscription box. Should also get the grocery shopping done for the next few days if not the next week. Monday, I'll be in the garage again since Tuesday is a recycling/bulk trash day.  Might get out there today as well. We'll see.

In the meantime, I'm surfing eBay to look at all the gee whiz cool stuff that I don't need and/or can't afford.

I'm on chapter 36 of Deja Dead by Kathy Reichs. Current audio book is Never Have Your Dog Stuffed by Alan Alda. I tried listening to One on One by Tabitha King, but there was something wrong with the tape. I still have Ella Enchanted and These Happy Golden Years to go. I had Ella Enchanted from the city library, but it kept jamming.

I'm eBay surfing again. It's like looking through the old Sears Wish Book, walking through a giant flea market, or window shopping without even leaving home. I like that. I've been looking into some more soap molds. I'd like to get some of those cool molds to make citrus slices and/or Celtic molds. There are molds available for making soap on a rope. Not sure if they are two piece molds or not.

I need to get my tail in gear around here and start cleaning out more stuff. I think Tom and I have come up with a good idea for Father's Day.

Started a piece for Collie, it's shaping, but not like I really want it to. It's a family piece mostly. I have another character poking at my brain at the moment.

Need to get a couple of calls made today before we go out. The dog needs to go to the groomers and I need to get hold of the IRS and find out why they have yet to send us more info on the payment plan we set up.

So... I backtracked that Sims 2 Legacy to get them where they were when my computer had a burp.  Turned out ok. I have a few pictures to share over at [livejournal.com profile] 2addicted2sims2 in the near future. The legacy founder, an adult female married an elder. I set up a new town just for that. It's going to be interesting to see who wants what. I'm not exactly following all the rules, but eh... it's my game and I'm going to have fun with it!

Monday is Kevin's day off, so, we did the semi-usual running about town. Hit the game store and Hobby Lobby. Got some neat gee whiz cool stuff. Did the grocery shopping. I'm thinking kielbasa and onions or beef roast in the crock pot for dinner.

Need to get a drapery rod and drapes for Tom's room. It still needs to be painted and I still need a bigger ladder to get to the stuff over the closet. Kevin's den needs new draperies, floor coverings, and a futon pad. Except for the linoleum, I can cover all these things this week.

Tom cleaned out a pile of the crap in his bathroom. That will be helpful. I mean, really, how many containers of shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, etc., does one need out at a time? I told him that one out a time is enough.

Slowly been cleaning out a lot of old stuff. Going to see about dropping off the hard cover books for donation at the library tomorrow while I'm out shopping.

Redid the LJ filter titles, etc. up to April 2006. So if you had access to posts for before that and you no longer do, they have been made private to eliminate the one too many filters I set up. I eliminated 9 of them at this point.

The new year is new and, yet, it's already old because a day has past and the second is already waning.

I am slowly realigning my old filters and incorporating the posts into either private posts or absorbing them into more mainstreamed filters, so... you might be able to read more than you were able to before or not as much. Weird, I know, but when LJ said I was trying to exceed my limit on filters, I figured it was time to start streamlining. As I have said before, if you can no longer access a post that you commented to, etc., and would like a copy, yell. Meantime, the filter realigning is done up to March 2005 and the tagging is up to May 2003. I know, it's probably crazy to go back through all of these entries, but in doing so, I relearned and remembered things.

My horoscope for 2 January:
Some promising new enterprises may be presented to you today, CATHY, and you might want to get going right away on one of them. However, starting work may depend on someone else's contribution - and that person could be taking their own sweet time. This could be frustrating - but wait it out. Don't give in to the temptation to lose your temper. What you want will happen. You'll just have to be patient!

I'm going to try to be patient and see what comes of this. There are many things I would like to accomplish, but something about that rings true.

In the last week or so, I have been surfing eBay for craft patterns and ideas. It's not like I don't have a ton of things already, it's just... I need the spark. In my travels about that multinational auction/flea market, I found something from straight out of my childhood. This is Debbie's Dream House from Deluxe Reading, who also made the 6 inch tall fashion doll named Dawn, and I owned one as a girl. I still have most of the furniture.

Picture of the house behind the cut )
While I was doing research I found this wonderful site with all sorts of dollhouses on it. If you've known me for a while, you know that I'm a microphile, that means I like miniature objects, feel free to further translate that to dollhouses in 1/12th scale and their furnishings. Now, those of you that are fellow Simsaholics might go to that site and squeee just like I did. Most of those older dollhouses have simple lines and translate easily into homes for Sims.

In reading articles, I came across this: http://www.amirtofangsazan.blogspot.com/
Now, I have to wonder why anyone that was screwed over that badly wouldn't take the time to leave negative feedback. This was published in the Daily Mail. All the seller wanted in the first place was his money back and I don't blame him a bit. The dang computer had half the RAM it was advertised to and no DVD ROM and it didn't work.

I'm having days of late where I find myself shutting down. Not always in the physical sense, but I do find myself feeling tired when dealing with some things of late and just get quiet. So, if you happen to be yakking away with me one minute and I get quiet or log out and don't come back after more than 10 minutes, it's safe to assume that I've either hit a shutdown point or have server issues. There are some things that are better not explained.

4:29 PM

So, a movie and a shower later, I feel better, but still a bit out there.

7:59 PM

Went out for a bit, did a bit of food and sweets shopping. Still haven't finished my book, but I did finish a chapter. That leaves 9 & 10. I watched Shadow of a Doubt, I think I will have to watch it again as I was dozing in between. The next film in the machine is The Secret of Roan Inish.

So, I finally got my hands on Pour L'Amour Et Liberte: The Book of Houses 2 (Changeling Dreaming , No 2) and am waiting on Fool's Luck. Kevin and I lucked out on a pair of auctions from Guido's Gypsy Wagon. 2 books and postage less than 25 bucks. Still will need this one Pooka Kithbook to complete the collection. Apparently someone sprang for the 99 bucks as the one amazon.com
yellowrosetx: (Default)

At the moment, I am a happy camper.

I mentioned yesterday that I won the auction for one of the Changeling books I want to complete my collection. Well, today, I was in Hastings and got a near steal when I found Shadow Court.
Ebay store 1 price: 59.95
Ebay store 2 price: 75.00
Amazon prices: 35 - 99
Hastings price... 9.50
It was originally sold for 18.00, so.... yeah... I done good.

So, who besides me surfs eBay for things they:
had as a kid
wanted as a kid
for ideas for what to do with things you have lurking, but don't really want to part with?

So, I have this bunch of toys in my garage from my childhood. It's part of the Marx Best of the West collection. While other girls were probably playing with Barbie dolls, I was playing with those, cowboys, cowgirls, horses, and a ranch. This is link to the Vintage Toy Room and a picture of the Circle X Ranch. The ranch is a fold up cardboard playset (also shown here in an eBay auction.) So I have a couple of ideas.. one, make a conversion of this gee whiz cool set to plastic canvas and... create the ranch and the family that "owns" it into my Sims 2 game. That should prove fun.

Anyway.. Kevin is feeling better, we think he ate something that totally disagreed with him.

When tossing up cryptic messages, one should be cautious as the wrong party might take offense. However, the following RP related items are pretty much things that just annoy me in general.
RP Stuff/bitching )

Anyway.. I've become a Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy junkie. I buy things only when they are on sale and I smell soooooooooo good. That's controlling my money flow and giving me a lift. Today, I used sandalwood rose.

I feel bleah... but I have plans of sorts. I'm not planning to go out today, but tomorrow I need to. I will need to get money orders to pay for eBay auctions. I won this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:BCA:US:11&Item=8225956658  Kevin has two auctions in progress. Once the one closes out, I will be working on my stitchery.

Crafty goodness )

FOOD! )

More later.

I had planned to be on to RP, but I started watching a movie and crashed out. Must have been tired.

Liz called last night to ask if we made any hurricane provisions. While Rita is not expected bring the heaviest part of the storm this way, we are prepared for a lot of rain, which we get in every tornado season. Some disaster prep people were on TV last night saying there is a possibility that the power could be knocked out from the backlash.

I had memory flashes of something Dad said when I was doing a project for school. He said if his "new" house was ever flooded out that Scranton would be gone and someone would have been building an ark. Mom and Dad live near the Pocono Mountains, snow they get a lot of. I still keep a lot of canned food in my cupboards, it's a throw back to living in PA and CO where winter could be hard. Better laughed at for hording and not go hungry, IMO.

Yesterday was the anniversary of [livejournal.com profile] moonmama's birth. I've been thinking about her lately and will probably address my thoughts in a more private venue.

I have several letters to write, both snail and e-mail. I got some of the vacation pictures back. I look like I should be saying moooooooooooooo instead of talking. I swear, they lie... the camera puts on far more than 10 lbs. My cousin, Sharon, is a skinny mini and it made her look a lot bigger than she is.

There's another thing on my to do list. Fill in my journal for the days I was gone. I wrote things down to post, but haven't, yet.

6:07

I finally got around to posting the feedback for War in Concordia. The postman was not kind to my poor book, however, it's in good shape. This means I need one less book to complete my collection of Changeling books.

Hamburger Help for dinner tonight.

Off to play Sims 2 for a while. Need to start dinner around 6:45. That includes possible thaw time. Season finale of Smallville is on at 9 PM.

Later, people!
yellowrosetx: (Default)
Was going to take the car today, but plans changed. Will have it tomorrow since the gamers will be here. Only have until 1 Nov to use up my coupons in the discount book we bought. Need to stop at some of those places tomorrow.

It's a three out of four day.
Got the last card to finish my Limited Edition Middle Earth CCG set!! Wheeeeeeeee!

My little cassette recorder works again! Seems I left the pause key on. Duh... However, Tom took it apart, cleaned its innards and fiddled with the speaker a bit to help stop it from shorting out. This is good.

The power supply for the scanner came.

However... the HP scanner is totally trashed. After checking it with the new power supply, I told Tom to go ahead and open it. He found all sorts of things that look wrong in there, so I'm guessing the circuit board is fried. Going to see if I can returned the gizmo for a credit on my CC.  I hope it can be done.

Also found the SCSI PCI card that will allow my old scanner to work with my current computer. New. it's 70 bucks.

Scams...

Apparently there's a new e-mail scam, possible worm or credit card fraud being sent out. It's in the guise of a letter from eBay "RE: Question for seller -- Item #." They input a new item number on each mailing. In short.. if you don't have an eBay account or don't have items for sale, nuke that mail.
