Austin in the rain...

We took a run to Austin today... in was raining on and off.
A new game store run by a couple guys in Kevin's game group opened up. It's called Thor's Hammer. We picked up a couple of things there including a pack of Two Towers cards. My husband is very tolerant of my hobby.. ok, it's practically an obsession, but you get the idea.
We stopped to eat at a place called the Mongolian Grill. It's a one trip buffet of sorts. You load up on whatever food you like, mix your own sauce, pour it over the food and then they grill it. Yummy!
We stopped at Hobby Lobby. I picked up some basswood to make a new candle mold stand among other things. I love poking in that store!
Book People was the next stop on the list. Kevin and Tom picked out stuff, I poked in the tarot cards and incense in the upper floor. They have the Rider Tiny Tarot, but not the version with the keychain.
On the way home, we stopped at a Bookstop. Lo and behold we found Game Workshop Lord of the Rings figures on sale! Found Sauron among the boxes as well as the heroes of Helm's Deep. Wheeeeeeeeeee! Talk about happy! :)

Date: 2003-03-04 02:59 am (UTC)Too bad you are so many hours away, Kevin and Jared would just have a ball with WarHammer.
Jared is planning on making a gaming table to place in the garage.
He's been here a week, and already planning on the space needed to set things up. :)

If Jared is in one of the internet Warhammer groups, I think it's called Dire Wolf... they have a tournament in Little Rock in the summer called the Hillbilly Invitational. Kevin and Tom are planning to be there. Next month they plan to be at a tourney in Dallas. It's a great father/son thing.
I always get the weirdest looks from those spouses that don't support their other half's hobby. I told them... everybody has their thing, Warhammer is theirs. Keeps Tom busy and out of trouble.... and unlike some of those folks, I can look at those figures, books, etc., and see what the boys have on the shelves for the money they put into their hobby.
