The Shape of Things to Come
Professional and personal change are stressed this November, and it's better to be bold and take the initiative than to stand still and simply react. You find yourself more comfortable in your own skin now, making you more alluring to others.

Interesting, no?

Here are the highlights:

We celebrated 29 years of marriage on Sunday.
We did Thai for dinner on Saturday afternoon.
I handed out candy on Saturday night.
The boys had their annual "Halloween" RP on Sunday.
I have two pieces to post/finish for LT. I have other characters creeping into my head.
I need to get with a couple of RP buddies to sort a few things out.
I have the Monday drill to do. It's a recycling week.
No idea what I'll fix for dinner. I'll think of something.
I have this much progress achieved in NaNoWriMo
763 / 50000 words. 2% done! It'll be posted somewhere or other.

And so...

Every so often, I get bogged down in things that are not so important in the grand scheme of things and forget, to paraphrase Reba McEntire, that there's life out there.

Sometimes, I feel the need to say something and, yet, can't find the words. I retreat to my quiet places; books, craft work, etc. This is becoming one of those times. I don't want any hard feelings with anyone, but in some ways I feel let down. It's not exactly anyone's fault, I just feel left behind. It's mostly my fault, I moved on, but only part way.Sometimes, we say things are fine, but they really aren't. There's the little voice in the back of our minds that says, "it's no big deal, I can do this," but the reality is even if there's no blame to be laid and things are just not what we hope, we are better off removing ourselves from certain situations. In order to fix it, we need to clear our minds, and let go for a while. Sometimes, we have to be selfish and take a few steps back to get a look at the bigger picture of things.

I'm thinking about getting one of these for the backyard. With the warm weather coming it will be nice to sit outside. It has overhead cover, so I'll be able to read or do my needlework without being sunburned easily. With my skin, that can be happen easily and fast.

Reading Drums of Autumn. Listening to I've Hear That Song Before and Just a Guy. Have several library books to read including a Robert B. Parker western. So, yes, my time will be occupied. I need to read to stimulate whatever stories are rumbling in my head and just not popping, yet.

Been playing Yoville and a few other games on Facebook. They pass the time. Going to start playing Sims 2 again. Maybe let a few of the families run amok!

For the DM people, I plan to have a character at the party Friday unless the other half wants to do something. After that, I'll be taking a break from public play there, I have no idea how long.
yellowrosetx: (Default)
We saw Watchmen on Friday night. If you read the comic, you'll probably like it. If not, you'll be lost.

I posted a small story piece. Something to get the juices flowing. I have other ideas, but it's like the backed up stuff is clogging the new stuff. Not good, but I'm coping. I'm thinking about a couple of my older pieces, like a story I started back in the days of Double Star Saloon. I wonder where I tucked Elisa's stuff. I had a journal format for her from the mind of the elderly Elisa about her youth on Running Brook. Something to think on.  I have a few thoughts on RP, but that's another subject.

I'm going to try to get part of my kitchen done this week. Tom is off for spring break the week of the 16th. I'm thinking a couple of small household projects that week would be good. We'll see.

I have two books waiting to be read. Not sure if I'll be reading The Battle of Evernight or Drums of Autumn. I have Voyager and Dragonfly in Amber ready to be mailed.

Next craft project, I think, will be a bookmark. Something fairly simple.

Been watching Golden Girls before bed. I sleep better, go figure.

ATM APPROVED

You ATM has been approved worth $6.8m. Do get back to us.

Apparently my body decided to say, "Screw you" and words to that nature on since I got little done on my to do list for Tuesday. Anything that required leaving the house has been put off another day. However, after a fuss with my youngin, we discovered that there was another bottle of carpet cleaner in the laundry room cabinets. So, at least I got THAT done!

Tom came home from class, wasn't feeling up to par and went to nap. About 2 he came out of his room and said that we would need to reschedule the movie because he wasn't feeling well. I told him I'd wake him around 4 and that would still give us time get the other things done. About 3, I felt like crap and went to lay down. Next thing I knew... it was 5:51 PM. I was running around like a maniac trying to figure out how to get all this stuff done. The son is like... um... it's my WoW raid night, it's too late for me to go, now! Soooooo .. that's when the yelling started. It was defused pretty quickly though. We both felt like crap. He found the bottle of cleaner, fixed up the steamer/shampooer for the first run of the night and I was on my merry way.

I have a Bissell Proheat and it's a pretty awesome gizmo. Let me tell you, when you are cleaning the carpet and see blue getting sucked up and realized it's part of a long set in ink stain, that's a pretty durn good machine! The water I dumped from it was stinky (we're talking sewer, here) and gross! No wonder Himself's been getting sick. Ew.

I have a couple rants and stuff brewing. One for RP and one for ZOMG... is that a man thing??

So, for today.. not sure on the movie. Need to get air in the tires of the Honda. And if they lose air again by the next time I drive the car, I'm taking it over to the dealership to see WTF the issue is. Going to get the things on my shopping list taken care of.

I've been using some music from Youtube and other videos to provoke my writing muse. I wanted to share them. A few are from the Australian TV series called McLeod's Daughters. There's irony there, really there is. Some of you might be able to figure out who the songs are for.

Some you have to click the links to view as the source has embeds blocked but that's how things go. Behind the cut are the songs, enjoy:

It's mid-afternoon and I'm snuggled up under a blankie with a cup of hot tea and a somewhat stuffed head. Well, I'd rather not ring in the New Year with a clogged head, but at least I'm here to see it through. Be I'm very likely to be snuggling in my bed very shortly since I feel crappy. I might try to write or something, but this is one of those days when I'm going to be examining the insides of my eyelids at a much earlier hour than usual.

There are things I should be doing like getting the other half's suitcase out of the attic and starting to pack it. And getting dresser drawers out for him to look over. I still plan on a major clean out of the master bedroom and bath (among other things) while he's away. These preliminaries (the closet clean out, the book sorting, etc.) will save me the headache of... "You tossed out my what??" It's about time for new curtains and whatnot. We've only been in the place since 1991.

I finished Appaloosa by Robert B. Parker. I finished about six more chapters in Dragonfly in Amber. I have one more audio book from the library, but when I started it, something about the story said, "Nope, not reading this," and that was the end of that. I suppose that happens.

Well, Himself has cabin fever and I think we are going to take a brief run out into the world. Not sure. Still, though, it'll likely be an early to bed or hide from the world night. I have an RP rant in my head and and few other things that I need to clear out of my head.

I wish you all a very Happy New Year! ~*~
yellowrosetx: (Default)
It's 4:07 and today's to do list has dwindled a bit, but not a whole lot. I'm taking a brief break after the hour or so of standing in line and hauling things over at the post office. Tom was very helpful in that venture.

Buy packing tape
Mail packages and cards that are ready to go

Fix lasagne or meatloaf for dinner (This is happening in about an hour. Edit: Done)
Test out new computer gadget (not yet)
Pay Sprint bill for son (edit: ready for mailing)
Drop note to MIL with Jessica's info (edit: ready for mailing)
Have Kevin sort the boxes of books under the bed so if he wants to dump any they can be dropped off at the nursing home with the goodies
Drop off book at library (Forgot that book to drop it off. Thankfully, it was renewed until the 29th. That will give me time to get a list together of the audio books, etc., that I'm interested in.)
More as I think of it!

I finished In Praise of the Crone. I learned much and had a lot of those "Duh, why didn't I think of that?" moments. Still reading Dragonfly in Amber; I'm on pg 188 of 947.

I have a laundry as well as other odds and ends to clear up before I reward myself with RP time later in the evening. Little clean ups all over the house.

Posting a picture of the most recent finished craft project very shortly!

More later!

4:56 PM

So, I got back from the dentist a bit ago. Still numb from Novocaine. If I'm not about later, assume I have crash landed into my bed. The anesthetic sometimes makes me loopy, and oddly enough.. when it's wearing off.

I'm happy to say that my missing package turned up. Guess where, yup at the post office, same post office that said they delivered it! Seems they left a notice and failed to make the proper notations. Ah, C'est le Vie. Point is I now have what's probably one of the best looking Ken dolls ever made. Translation, he doesn't look girly. Harley Davidson Ken #1, if I were a Barbie, that'd be the Ken I'd want knocking at my door! It's a toss up, though, which I like more, Harley Ken or King Arthur. Guinevere has this lovely shade of reddish blonde hair.

7:10 PM

Son made dinner, pirogies and mozzarella sticks. Ok, it's odd, but so are we. The Novocaine has worn off and I'm a tad drowsy.

I'm wrapping gifts to get the mailing underway for this year. So far, it's slow going, but the sorting is done. I figure I can send Tom after his exams on Friday or something, I dunno.

The brakes on the Explorer are fixed, I think I mentioned that. And we went out to a nice dinner on part of what we saved by having Kevin's mechanic buddy from work do the job. Kevin bought the tools the guy needed to do the brakes and gave them to him afterward. Seemed only fair since he didn't want money.

Going to watch Bones at 9 ET. Should be about for RP sometime after that.
yellowrosetx: (Default)

My hands are back to whatever normal is. I was able to go to the dentist on Wednesday without having to be turned away due to an allergic reaction.

I'm a little bit pleased with myself. And I can't believe that October is almost over already!!

I finished Voyager, I only started it a year ago! Now I need to backtrack and read Dragonfly in Amber. Don't ask!

I got a few small pieces of writing done. Nothing major, but I got into the heads of two of my characters.

Need to clean house, pay bills, and get a few things attended to over the weekend. I hope be getting a couple of household projects started this coming week. Started my holiday shopping. Need to mail out a few things.

Want to bag and tag the rest of the 2006 LJ entries by mid. Want to get a few logs edited and posted. Will do the LJ RP posting later.

Things I want to remember or pass along behind the cut!Read more... )

I'm worn out from running about my house cleaning up and doing laundry. Gads ... laundry. Piles! Urgh.. where'd it come from? In fact, I'm STILL doing laundry at almost midnight. I'm beginning to wonder if it's breeding! Scary thought!

I was going to RP during Sasha's shift, but opted to check mail and veg for a while. I logged later on and yakked in IMs a bit, but mostly, I want to lay out an outline for some story pieces to get things moving again.

Tuesday's household foibles:
Clean bedroom and bath
MORE Laundry
Dinner duty (Thinking pot roast and potatoes, but might grab some oriental veggies at the store including snow peas)
Quick dinner means I can finish the front of the yard that I didn't get to when Kevin had his time off.
Top on the list is getting Tom's tuition paid.

I discovered that Firefox doesn't give back RAM that it sucked up until I close it. Odd.

Some funnies and other things behind the cut.

I wish I had not been feeling so blah about 7:45 Friday night. I would have taken my camera out to capture that magnificent sky! They say a red sky at night is a sailor's delight. Maybe that's a sign that Ike is going to be tempered and ease off before it gets here. We can hope.

I went outside a bit ago and enjoyed the light breeze and the music of my wind chimes. I'm wondering what Saturday daytime will bring. Ike is supposed to bring rain and all kinds of nasty weather. I'm hoping for a bit of time out of the house before it hits and my son safely to and from work; the latter being far more important.

For some reason, I think the weather oddities, I spent a lot of time sleeping on Friday. I doze off after Kevin got home, around 4:30, maybe 5. Crash out until almost 8.

I have some comments about RP for later, but in general things seem to be anywhere from good to awesome.
yellowrosetx: (Default)

I'm feeling better, thank you to those that held my hand. :)

If you like Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy, they have a new fragrance called "Warm Milk and Honey." Also I have coupon (it needs to be printed) that was sent to me in e-mail for a free aromatherapy item (up to $13) with any purchase of $15 or more. 13 is the normal price of an aromatherapy shower gel. If you would like it forwarded please drop me a comment or e-mail at [email protected] and I'll pass it along. It expires 21 September.

I'd like to get some of that new Black Amethyst while they still have the sale buy one, get one 50% off and are still offering the lip gloss with it. Come to think of it.. that's more than enough cover the 15 dollar purchase to get the free aromatherapy.

Tuesday's plans:

Chicken for dinner
Finish the trim job in the front yard, weather permitting.
UHBS
RP in the evening

Writing and an LJ RP post.

As you might have guessed, the front yard is the first step when the weather starts cooling.

Peanuts animator, Bill Melendez, passed on at age 91.

As for all the fuss over Sarah Palin's pregnant and unmarried daughter ... people that are pointing fingers really need to reexamine their own lives and ask if they are perfect! People are going on about it being ironic that Mrs. Palin's stance is abstinence and her 17 year old is pregnant. Apparently those people are just NOW learning that the old adage of "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink" is very true. HELLO, the translation that applies to the current situation is simple; you can instill what you believe are good values in your children and they will do as they damned well please anyway!

The fridge has gone stewpid again. Tom took the freezer apart this time. Oy. Seems there was a layer of ice under the tray. Prolly be another hour or so with the doors hanging open before the piping is thawed. Going to leave them open until the top ice tray thaws.

Bagging and tagging up to 14 Feb 2006 is done.

I have writing to do, but I can't quite get it sorted out in my head, yet. More on that later, maybe. It's more of an RP thing.

In the meantime, before I go off to do laundry and whatnot, I leave you with today's funny (a rerun from the vault) and some lovely youtube music.

I discovered that if you fry a voice post that it still counts against your total for the month, which is 20 for paid accounts. Ah well, live and learn.

Bagged and tagged to Jan 12 2006.

Figured out what to do with that one character that was in limbo, well sorta, and the other two that were stuck. Might spend the weekend writing, well Sunday anyway. Must make notes. Researched a few medieval things at this web site. http://www.florilegium.org/

The new Barnes and Noble opens next Wednesday. Rumor has it Sims 2: Apartment Life is due out the 27th.

Need to pay bills and get to post office by Monday.

Watched Pride and Prejudice with Ehle and Firth again. Still love it!

Did a bit of needlework and reading. One more panel to stitch on the pink photo album.

Going to go listen to Johnny Dollar and play a game. 4:20 AM

7:06 PM

I lazed about today, we had Domino's pizza for dinner.

I have four LT characters to write for. One of them, I know what I'm doing. More on that later.

I hauled out an old SEB character and took her over to DM. She played designated driver for a friend of hers. It was hilarious to see him hitting on all the women! :D

1:21 AM

Well, I'm going to try to write or something...
yellowrosetx: (Default)
So, I'm pondering a few things. Like the silliness and strangeness of people in general. Some of it, I'll save for an RP post, but there are some things on my mind.

Honestly, I'm curious how someone like me with decent google fu and research skills can't find these horrible mean posts that someone supposedly found about themselves by looking up their SNs and stuff. I can think of a few answers, but that's better kept to myself, I think.

I bagged and tagged up to Jan 9, 2006. Slowly, but surely catching up.

Seen, read, and been exposed to a few stupid people tricks lately, they make my brain hurt.

[livejournal.com profile] elf_fu gave me my giggle of the day with her phone post! http://elf-fu.livejournal.com/351472.html It's mostly an RP thing, but still funny!
yellowrosetx: (Celts)
So, here I am again. Other that AIM screwing up and the fuss brewing over in DM, things are pretty good. ::knocks wood::

You know, I tend to post my RP rants out of public view and so only the RPers can read them because, let's be honest, generally only the RPers "get it." It's much like the doll collectors get the doll things, the music friends get the music things and so on. If it's not your "thing," then it's not your thing.

Today, however, I'm going to make an exception on this subject for a brief grumbling session. Many of the RPers or former RPers know what the RDI is and probably know what Dragon's Mark is. I've been playing at DM about once a week. Flashchat can get hard on my brain, but for a couple of hours a week, it's tolerable and most of the people have been fine. My gripe is NOT with those playing, it's with people that think they need to play net nanny and censor things that aren't even on that site.

This is simple, this is straight forward, if you don't own LJ and I'm posting within the TOS/TOU then you have no right to be telling me what I can and cannot be venting about. Who the hell are you to be getting on your high horse and telling people don't post rants about me in your blog? The rules are simple. Don't piss me off, don't hurt my feelings and I won't be noticing you long enough TO be ranting about you. Stop trying to play mommy to people that are adults and don't need their hands held to have issues solved. Let the admins do their jobs.

Just because you don't see my name on a lot of posts does not mean I'm the newb you seem to think I am. Don't make me introduce myself in the form of "this is who I used to be and I probably still remember where the proverbial bodies are buried." I don't like doing that, it irks me when other people do it. It amuses me, however, when other people say... "Uh... do you have any idea who you're talking to and that she is known for having a tongue that could cut you to ribbons? Don't set her off."

I have to wonder about people that refer others to people's blogs going.. "Did you see what X said about you?" I think the person doing the pointing out bears responsibility for their pal's hurt, too. Or worse yet, the trusted friends that reveal the contents of locked posts to those people.

There you have it, out in the open for any registered LJ user, save two that have been banned, to reply to.
yellowrosetx: (Default)
Thanks going out to [livejournal.com profile] elf_fu, [livejournal.com profile] isis, and [livejournal.com profile] ldygwynedd for the awesome post cards! :D

In the news:

Yesterday, another comedian passed on, Bernard McCullough, he was better known as Bernie Mac. He was fifty years old and died from complications of pneumonia in Chicago. Like the late George Carlin, Bernie Mac used colorful language, but underneath it he made a whole lot of sense.

Today's news entry for the strangeness file is ::drumroll:: Bernann McKinney, who recently had her face plastered all over the news with the cloned puppies of her dearly departed pitbull, is suspected of being Joyce McKinney, who, in the 1970's, unlawfully imprisoned a Mormon missionary and forced him into having sex with her. She, along with her accomplice, skipped bail.

Things are status quo in the household at the moment. This is good. ::knocks wood::

I feel physically tired, but my brain is in overdrive hence the weirdness!

Started bagging and tagging January 2006.

Saw Mummy 3. I liked it. Starts slow and quite bluntly there's not much on screen chemistry between Brendan Fraser and Maria Bello, but it's got action and some of those one liners that the first two films had! I have always liked him in the role of Rick O'Connell, a real guy stuck in an unusual situation. Don't get me wrong, there's wrong with Maria Bello's acting, the pairing just doesn't pack the same punch as Fraser and Weisz. Jet Li was quite good, but I would liked to have seen more of him doing what he does best. As in the previous films, John Hannah, is the comic relief, he delivers well! Luke Ford did a decent job as Alex, not hard on the eyes. Michelle Yeoh kicked ass.

Seems I have a lot of catching up to do around the house and in my LJ reading since I spent a great deal of time snoozing last week. I think I'm finally over whatever it was that knocked me on my rear and then caught the husband and son several days later. Thank you much to those that posted well wishes! :)

The Sims 2 fans might want to take a gander at this, the Apartment Life EP preview. It looks like it will be a lot of fun and somewhat of a mini preview of the Sims 3 concept of a larger scale area to work with. As I acquire new EPs and stuff packs, I sometimes dump similar things that are custom content. For instance, spiral staircases are coming back! Woot! That means I can dump most of the ones are custom content and roll along! They finally get ceilings!! No more pictures with the sky peeking in!!
Spoiler )
So, what I'm wondering is... can we do apartment lots for University?

I have considered packaging up all the houses I have in play, dumping the custom content in the download bin and then reinstalling the house packages so only what I'm actually using loads up, but that might be more trouble than it's worth.

So, depending on what all is happening today (Sunday), I might unplug from the net and fire up Sims 2, play until my head drops, then get a good night's rest so I can get started on the dreaded household tasks for Monday. On the other hand, I might get some writing done. There's food in the house, so other than going over to Wally World for a few minor things, we're in pretty good shape. ::again knocking wood:: I need to check on the white wine supply. Might do the Fight Night thing in RoH, not sure.

I've been trying to confine my complaints about RP to filtered or private LJ entries. Seems to be working out well. Those that want to read can read, those that don't can flee past quickly! On the good side of things: I have managed to get eleven pieces of varying lengths publicly posted.

More later.

Woops!

My son is home for lunch between getting off work and going to class. I'm just going to enjoy the peace and quiet for a little while before I get to cleaning and whatnot.

We heard from both of our girls on Sunday. Things seem to be ok, but we'll see.

Apparently, I enjoyed the peace and quiet so much that I left this entry until 5AM on the next day! I'll try to write more later, but in the meantime:

For those of you that write stories and/or role play, do you ever dream about your characters?

I need to catch up on a few things later today like reading LJ entries and cleaning my house! I've been wrapped up in a few things like making sure my son gets back and forth from the hospital.

Here's a little something for people that know who Collie or Kirin is (or both of them for that matter). If you've ever wondered where the personality and to some extent the look came from for them, take a gander at this video. You only need to watch about two minutes.
