2:17 PM

I hate waiting. Got here early so Tom could get to class on time. Class begins at 1:30 and only ten minutes between. This is pretty twisted, I tell you. Accommodate one of them and the other gets bent out of shape! Actually, Tom was fine, I suppose. I'm just annoyed at having to be here from 1:30PM - 4:30PM

I must admit that it's pretty cool to see one of the Army transport planes taking off.

I brought a book and my notebook. Also brought a small USB stick, my GB one seems to have disappeared. Annoying! I suppose it will turn up when I'm cleaning unless it accidentally got dumped in the trash.

Discovered that I have stuff that should have been transferred to LJ from 2007! Another thing for the clean up bin!

Found a carryon bag that Jessica gave to Tom. Using that instead of my normal bag as it has wheels. Much easier to handle. Also got a nice short cane, it should be easier to handle than my longer one. Decorative paint got peeled off a bit, but Tom can fix that and the cane was less than five bucks, so, that's not so bad.

I think if ticket prices are still this lower come summer, I'll visit my folks and fly into Avoca airport. Car rental would not be extremely expensive then either.

3:13 PM

It's really weird being the only person in a waiting area for a flight out! That and the TSA people keep looking at me funny!

Some part of me wishes I had a laptop for the waiting and the flight. The rest is saying, "Vacation from everything at home, dope!"

Around Christmas time, I think, airlines starting charging extra for checked baggage. Talk about inviting trouble! I suppose, though, that encourages people to carry less and pack lighter. Truth be told, I could easily pack for a weekend with this carry on, possibly, a week. Have to use the backpacking techniques.

3:42PM

Other people arriving.

I'm hoping to get that buggy ride around the historic district and have a girls' day or night out with Liz. Would like to go to the big flea market. Kevin wants to take the kids to the Six Flags in Georgia. I wonder how he will cope with a toddler and preschooler for 4 hours in a car.

3:52PM

I think they are now unlocking what will be my flight.

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] her_whispers for the adorable card!

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] rachaelwynter for the beautiful gift! :)
A notice turned up in my mail on Saturday and I went to claim it late Monday. The reason for the delay? A postal SNAFU!

there was a snowstorm in Colorado Springs. I remember it very well since I was on my way to the hospital around 9PM on Dec. 23.

By 5 AM, we heard the sounds of things we both found joy and sadness in.  While I walked off my labor in the hallways of the old Fort Carson hospital (picture on the left), I overheard the nurses discussing one of the recent births, a stillbirth. They pondered why a mother who had only one living child after six pregnancies would keep trying. All I could think of was ... what a horrible way to remember what should be a season of happiness and joy, the death of a child. One of the nurses informed me that my baby would have the same birthday as her father, Christmas Eve.

Kevin had done twenty four hours of CQ (Charge of Quarters) duty the day before and kept nodding off. I told him to go stretch out on the couch in the waiting room and I'd have the nurse come and get him when I was ready to go into the delivery room. When that time came, the nurse came back in with a smile on her face. She said that she found him on the floor and when she asked why he wasn't on the couch, he told her that it was easier to stay on the floor since he kept rolling off the couch!

Elizabeth Ann came into our lives on 24 December 1983 at 04:44 AM MST. She wrapped her small fist around her father's finger and was daddy's little girl from that moment on. Best Christmas gift ever. She endures teasing about being brought by Santa instead of a stork.

To those of you celebrating Christmas, I wish you and yours the best of the season. Good health and happiness to you all.

Much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] elf_fu, [livejournal.com profile] mistralwind, [livejournal.com profile] blackhilllife, and [livejournal.com profile] chelle_liz for the lovely cards! :)

I succeeded in transferring the files on the Zip drive to Kevin's old Gateway. Next step is transferring them to CD or DVD. Then I can get back to writing. That might wait until after the holidays, but it's all good. Seems the Gateway and XP don't mind that old Iomega or my LightScribe DVD.

Between now and 30 Dec, I need to square away any AOL Pictures files that I have hanging around before they shut that part of the service down.

Took a ride over to the nursing home to drop off a pile of books, etc. Got groceries including a small ham for Christmas dinner. They had a meal deal that included a pile of free extras. HEB does that for Christmas and Easter. I still have Christmas cards to write and mail. Most are ready to go. Tom needs to get thank you notes written and off to his grandparents. He needs to put together the necklace for his grandmother and get it rolling.

Was outside today wearing a t-shirt and jeans. It was about 40 out there and felt wonderful to me. Yes, I'm sure the neighbors thought I was nuts being dressed that way while running in and out to load up my car, toss trash, and sing Christmas carols, but that's ok. Where I grew up, (Scranton, PA) 40 this time of year is WARM. I did, however, wear a coat when we went to run our errands.

The cold made me grateful to be alive and very grateful that I have a warm house! It's 9:30 PM and about 32 out there, now. I'm in my lovely warm sweats!

So, Tuesday's agenda is as follows:
Finish cards
Tom needs to make the jewelry and bookmark.
Post office
Wal-mart
Local hobby store
Drop off cards for Gabe and Vincent

I'm going to make a pot of tea then see what mischief my Sims can get up to.

4:56 PM

So, I got back from the dentist a bit ago. Still numb from Novocaine. If I'm not about later, assume I have crash landed into my bed. The anesthetic sometimes makes me loopy, and oddly enough.. when it's wearing off.

I'm happy to say that my missing package turned up. Guess where, yup at the post office, same post office that said they delivered it! Seems they left a notice and failed to make the proper notations. Ah, C'est le Vie. Point is I now have what's probably one of the best looking Ken dolls ever made. Translation, he doesn't look girly. Harley Davidson Ken #1, if I were a Barbie, that'd be the Ken I'd want knocking at my door! It's a toss up, though, which I like more, Harley Ken or King Arthur. Guinevere has this lovely shade of reddish blonde hair.

7:10 PM

Son made dinner, pirogies and mozzarella sticks. Ok, it's odd, but so are we. The Novocaine has worn off and I'm a tad drowsy.

I'm wrapping gifts to get the mailing underway for this year. So far, it's slow going, but the sorting is done. I figure I can send Tom after his exams on Friday or something, I dunno.

The brakes on the Explorer are fixed, I think I mentioned that. And we went out to a nice dinner on part of what we saved by having Kevin's mechanic buddy from work do the job. Kevin bought the tools the guy needed to do the brakes and gave them to him afterward. Seemed only fair since he didn't want money.

Going to watch Bones at 9 ET. Should be about for RP sometime after that.

Winter is coming, but I'm already looking forward to next spring. Sounds goofy, I suppose. However, I can't remember finding so much joy in something as simple as opening the back door in years! ZOMG ... there were stars out there!! At some point between 7:30 and 10 PM, the view of Canis Minor from my patio is spectacular!

I managed to get all but one thing done on my list that I had planned for Wednesday. When we were coming back from Wal-mart, the light was off in the sign for Goodwill, so I missed the turn off into their parking lot.

I still have my scrapbook box to look through and sort, but other than that and the laundry that needs to put away in there, it's done. I figure that box is a several hours job. However, considering my cluttering packratting tendencies, two garbage bags of clothes that no longer fit and a bag of about two dozen books for donation and about four bags of trash cleared out of there is a big step forward! Mr. Pessimist, of course, grumbled at my moment of triumph and said, "You'll just find other things to put in there."

I did a few minor repairs on clothes that I wanted to keep. The real fun is waiting. I have several sweaters that have small holes in them. Much to my annoyance one of them was purchased in the last couple of months in preparation for the cooler weather. My best guess is that they got caught in my dresser drawers in some manner and tugged. But, as I said, the fun is waiting. I have a bunch of beads (as previously noted in other posts) and am going to try to come up with some sort of design to try to hide tiny holes. A butterfly is fairly easy to make.

The only thing I don't fit in that's not being donated is a black suit. I'm sending that to Liz.

I'm still reading Dragonfly in Amber, but at the rate I'm going, I should be done by Christmas. And I'm also reading In Praise of the Crone by Dorothy Morrison.

My weekend project is that box. Maybe the beading, I dunno. Shopping for Friday. Woot!

This is our 28th wedding anniversary. Kinda makes me wonder where the time went!

We were invited, last minute, to attend a wedding tonight. It's informal, we are at least going to go and see them get married. It's at the local American Legion hall.

Bagging and tagging Aug 2006.

My hands are back to whatever normal is. I was able to go to the dentist on Wednesday without having to be turned away due to an allergic reaction.

I'm a little bit pleased with myself. And I can't believe that October is almost over already!!

I finished Voyager, I only started it a year ago! Now I need to backtrack and read Dragonfly in Amber. Don't ask!

I got a few small pieces of writing done. Nothing major, but I got into the heads of two of my characters.

Need to clean house, pay bills, and get a few things attended to over the weekend. I hope be getting a couple of household projects started this coming week. Started my holiday shopping. Need to mail out a few things.

Want to bag and tag the rest of the 2006 LJ entries by mid. Want to get a few logs edited and posted. Will do the LJ RP posting later.

Merry Christmas!
In the language of some of my ancestors, Nollaig shona dhuit.

It's nearly 5 AM. I've being running for about 14 hours straight cleaning, decorating, etc.  Tom is doing the cooking today. They gave out turkeys at Kevin's work, so we will have turkey! We should go over to drop off the gifts for Gabe and Vincent, but I'm not sure if they will be at home or not.

I put the Angel Lights Barbie on the top of the tree this year. She's two or three times as tall as our other one.  My Mom made that little one with a thread cone, some cardboard, glitter, and the head from a broken doll. And people ask where I get the crafty ideas from!

Some of you know that I collect Barbies. When I was going up into the attic to get a few things, I found a set that my parents gave me several years ago. I thought [livejournal.com profile] vocalista001 might get a kick out of this. I didn't take this picture, but the only differences in this set and my own are that Kelly's cello is standing upright and her hair is worn down.
Picture behind cut )

There are still a few small things to be wrapped and mailed. One for my MIL is going out late. She told Tom not send her any gifts, but as luck would have it when we were in Austin I found something lovely at Things Celtic. They are not usually open on Sundays, but with the holiday and all, they were open. It's a lovely little store, but it's in a location that gives me fits to find!

I have somewhat of a difficult piece of writing to do. It might take me a while to get it done. It will probably be easier than trying to remember everything that needs to be said if it was going to be done in a live RP session. While it's great to get that one on one reaction,  it can leave pieces missing that need to be addressed.

I need to make sure that the water bill is ready to go when Tom heads for church today. Also have a couple of Christmas cards to drop in the mail.

Have to get the fridge squared away. Meat needs to be repacked and frozen. We have a turkey to pick up that is the Christmas gift for company Kevin works for.

Listening to Inkspell, the sequel to Inkheart.

I'm working on the cover for the blue photo album. Once that's done I can put away all but four colors of yarn and get going on the less detailed pieces of canvas.

That's about it for now.

Catch up!

Dan Fogelberg's passing was top of the news last night. He had a beautiful voice that will be missed.

In the recent mail, I received cards from [livejournal.com profile] art_witch, [livejournal.com profile] chelle_liz, and [livejournal.com profile] rachaelwynter! Thank you! Also received packages from [livejournal.com profile] mistralwind and [livejournal.com profile] rachaelwynter that I'm going to wait before opening! Thank you! :D

I took the Explorer in for a couple of new tires last Thursday. My son had a blow out on his way to church. Thankfully, he wasn't  going fast, so he wasn't hurt. He was able to get some help from one of his friends. We need to put two more on.

While they were doing the tires at Sears, Tom and I made a few stops in the mall. I hit Bath and Body Works to use a coupon. Seems there was a buy one get one free on aromatherapy body wash. I ended up buying one thing and getting two free. Worked for me! Dropped by Kay-Bee Toys and found something adorable that brought back a fond childhood memory. I bought a plush Rudolph fawn with a red nose that blinks, he was five bucks. Got two new dress shirts (one for Tom, one for Kevin) at Sears. They were half price(20.00) and both came with ties.

I still have a few things to mail and get done. I need to clear my table near the aquarium as I want to put the tree up. I don't like putting it up more than a few days ahead of time. More later.

Friday morning, the father-in-law called. Kevin answered. I must have heard him say, "Yes, I'm home, I don't leave for work for another hour," at least a half dozen times. He said he got the impression that the FIL wanted to talk to me, but never asked. He said something about Christmas presents being on the way. Now, I feel silly because they told us not to send presents last year and the only thing I'll be sending to them is the pictures from Liz's wedding. Ah well. Must think of something.

I've been wrapping and preparing gifts for mailing. I have Mom and Dad's stuff ready to mail as well as everything to go to Jess and Aaron. I have Tyler and Logan's stuff boxed but I don't have the packing material in it, yet.

I have a lot of my cards ready to roll. I hope to have all family packages out by Monday and all cards out by next Friday. Note that I said hope.  The earlier the better, less lines at the PO.

Still working on the photo album. The front is coming along nicely! I'm about halfway through with it.  Mother Goose is starting to take shape and I have all the lettering done. I'm going to either sew a lining inside it or make a backing out of plastic canvas.

Tried listening to a few audio books, but for some reason they didn't capture my attention.  Current one is The Golden Compass. I think I'm going to look for the Dark is Rising as well as the Harry Potter books I don't have on CD.

Tuesday's to do list

UHBS

Grocery store trip (need more CD mailers, milk, lunches for Kevin, and laundry soap, possibly other things)

Library drop off and switch out.

Might get a couple of boxes mailed

Need to record Bones and House so Kevin can watch them when he gets home.

Dinner will be Chili Mac and some kind of rice and corn dish that I have in the cupboard. I plan on eating early and leaving plates in the oven for the boys.

Hopefully, there will be time for RP once my list is done for the day.

Yesterday, I was saying that I should not have my windows hanging open in the end of November. Sure enough, that caught up with me! It was cold today and rained a bit ago. Big drops that smacked the window panes. My son came running out of his WoW stupor to ask if it was hail.

Tom is cooking dinner tonight and we are waiting until Kevin gets in from work to get to eating. Might say we are having a Texas style Thanksgiving as we are having some nice steaks on the grill. No point in cooking turkey when Kevin doesn't care for it and Tom and I are somewhat indifferent. At least we all like the grilled moo on a plate!

I have a lovely Archipelago candle burning. The scent finally trickle through my senses. It's called Enfleurage.  The scent is a mix of French Jasmine, Lily of the Valley, and Rose. I'm fond of several of their scents, Stonehenge is my favorite; it's a lovely mix with bergamot.

Happy Holidays to you all, no matter what you celebrate!

Received a card from [livejournal.com profile] chelle_liz with a beautiful sparkling snowflake on it! Thank you! :)
Also received an adorable card from [livejournal.com profile] llignissam. Thank you! :)

Apparently I'm having male-female linguistic disconnections again. I say, "Bibittybobbittyboo," and they think I said, "Ishkabibel" Go figure. I don't know... it's like I'm speaking another language and they don't get it. And, apparently, it's not just the men living in my house. Oy vey. Maybe I should start talking to all men like I do my male offspring when he's being a butt. "You... go there.. .do THIS." Seems to work out very well then we don't have the.. "But I thought you said... " issue.

I keep thinking that's Wednesday, but it's not. I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

WTF is up with my AOL e-mail that it's apparently not sending out to everyone???

Horoscope for today:
Get outside, get moving! This would be a good time to release some physical energy. You used to enjoy competition when you were a little girl. Remember how exhilarating it was to be the first to race to the finish line at the top of the hill, or to win the biggest prize bag of candy? You will find your life greatly enriched if you can find a way to re-kindle similar types of feelings...

So why does that scare me?

I still have 8 things to prepare for Christmas mailing.

Never did get the car to the shop on Tuesday and those plans are now changed until Thursday.

I need to call my dentist, I think lost part of a filling out of stupidity.

So, I need to rest... I have a story or two percolating in my head. I keep waffling back and forth between wanting to bring my favorite character back into live play and killing her off.  A lot of the joy in playing that character has faded. I really wonder if that's what the horoscope was talking about...  find that feeling again.
