Trampolines ... they might be ;great for the 12 and up set, but my neighbors need to wake up to the lawsuit they are inviting! There's a toddler and a preschooler living in the other side of that duplex, no fence. And Saturday, the toddler had been stranded on the trampoline by "big" sister and started wailing. I realize that kids can get hurt even when you are standing right next to them, but there's stupidity on both sides over there.

I have new router, more details later.
Silly stuff from the e-mail files!

Let's start with ... Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] mummm!

I stare a blank screen and cursor flashing at me while I try to remember what it was I wanted to write about. Usually I've had an idea in mind and when I finally get around to sitting down, I forget half of it and stare somewhat goofy faced wondering what I was doing! Scary innit, but that's what getting older and letting your mind go lax can do!

Here's one of the things on my mind today. Does anyone on my FL crochet? Sew? Do needlepoint or cross-stitch? I know there are communities out there to discuss that kind of thing, but this is my LJ and I'm asking! Anyone do other arts and craft work? So, discuss!

Every time I go to a hobby/craft store, my husband's worst nightmare, I think, is don't let her find a NEW hobby! This is list of what I dabble in:
Cross-stitch
plastic canvas needlepoint
embroidery
jewelry making and other bead work
fabric painting
Dollhouse miniatures
Making doll clothes, accessories, and furniture
floral arrangements
Candle making
soap making (melt and pour, I'm not ambitious enough to try cold processing nor do I want to work with lye)

There are probably piles of things out in the cabinets needing homes and screaming... MAKE SOMETHING WITH ME!!!

I never really picked up on crochet or knitting, but evidenced by the mention of doll things, I prefer working in small scale. That remind me, I need to ask Mom if she still has that loom set and if she does and wants to get rid of it to send it out.

Something to think on for today:
Your dreams are more than just random firings of the brain, CATHY. They can indicate unresolved issues, stresses, deep desires, and lost memories. Further, they can prove instrumental to understanding yourself, and even in solving problems. Many advocate keeping a dream journal, given the power within your subconscious and all that can be learned from it. Consider examining your dreams of late. Analyze them to see if there is something you need to recognize.

I had this dream the other night... and I think I need to write it up. Sunday might be a good time.

Things that have been hiding in my e-mail: )

I realized that there are several notifications in my mailbox for the random facts meme, so I need to get my finger out of my ear and get that done! Also have some comments to answer for LJ that have been sitting there a while.

We saw Watchmen on Friday night. If you read the comic, you'll probably like it. If not, you'll be lost.

I posted a small story piece. Something to get the juices flowing. I have other ideas, but it's like the backed up stuff is clogging the new stuff. Not good, but I'm coping. I'm thinking about a couple of my older pieces, like a story I started back in the days of Double Star Saloon. I wonder where I tucked Elisa's stuff. I had a journal format for her from the mind of the elderly Elisa about her youth on Running Brook. Something to think on.  I have a few thoughts on RP, but that's another subject.

I'm going to try to get part of my kitchen done this week. Tom is off for spring break the week of the 16th. I'm thinking a couple of small household projects that week would be good. We'll see.

I have two books waiting to be read. Not sure if I'll be reading The Battle of Evernight or Drums of Autumn. I have Voyager and Dragonfly in Amber ready to be mailed.

Next craft project, I think, will be a bookmark. Something fairly simple.

Been watching Golden Girls before bed. I sleep better, go figure.

"Men, can't live with them, can't shoot them, or you can't collect the insurance!" -- CAK
Ladies, feel free to borrow that!

I need to search for one of my Irish Fairy Tale books by Leslie Conron. Last I saw it, it was in my suitcase on the way home from Kentucky.

I have so many projects that I would like to work on and can't wrap my brain around them. I have things I should and/or want to do like... I'd like to get a bunch of odd cleaning projects done. One of these days, I'll post a list. Oh, wait.. .that's more procrastination.

Meanwhile, here are some funnies!

FUNNIES!!

Oct. 29th, 2008 06:45 am
yellowrosetx: (Default)

I had an entry started, but this was in in e-mail and I had to share the chuckles!!

1: When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace expensive.....so, I took her to a gas station..... and that's how the fight started....

2: I tried to talk my wife into buying a case of Miller Light for $14.95. Instead, she bought a jar of cold cream for $7.95. I told her the beer would make her look better at night than the cold cream. And that's how the fight started.

3: After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's license to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later.

The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt'. So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair.

She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me' and she processed my Social Security application.

When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office.

She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability, too'.

And that's how the fight started.....

4: My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby able.

My wife asked, 'Do you know her?'

'Yes,' I sighed, 'She's my old girlfriend. I understand she took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since.'

'My God!' says my wife, 'Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?'

And that's how the fight started.....

5: I rear-ended a car this morning. So, there we were alongside the road and slowly the other driver got out of his car. You know how sometimes you just get soooo stressed and little things just seem funny? Yeah, well I couldn't believe it.... he was a DWARF!!!

He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted, 'I AM NOT HAPPY!!!'

So, I looked down at him and said, 'Well, then which one are you?'

And that's how the fight Started.....

6: I took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason, took my order first.

'I'll have the strip steak, medium rare, please.'

He said, 'Aren't you worried about the mad cow?'

'Nah, she can order for herself.' And that's how the fight started.....

My hands are back to whatever normal is. I was able to go to the dentist on Wednesday without having to be turned away due to an allergic reaction.

I'm a little bit pleased with myself. And I can't believe that October is almost over already!!

I finished Voyager, I only started it a year ago! Now I need to backtrack and read Dragonfly in Amber. Don't ask!

I got a few small pieces of writing done. Nothing major, but I got into the heads of two of my characters.

Need to clean house, pay bills, and get a few things attended to over the weekend. I hope be getting a couple of household projects started this coming week. Started my holiday shopping. Need to mail out a few things.

Want to bag and tag the rest of the 2006 LJ entries by mid. Want to get a few logs edited and posted. Will do the LJ RP posting later.

I'm clearing out my e-mail as well as bagging and tagging. I found this funny in the archives, Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

I'm worn out from running about my house cleaning up and doing laundry. Gads ... laundry. Piles! Urgh.. where'd it come from? In fact, I'm STILL doing laundry at almost midnight. I'm beginning to wonder if it's breeding! Scary thought!

I was going to RP during Sasha's shift, but opted to check mail and veg for a while. I logged later on and yakked in IMs a bit, but mostly, I want to lay out an outline for some story pieces to get things moving again.

Tuesday's household foibles:
Clean bedroom and bath
MORE Laundry
Dinner duty (Thinking pot roast and potatoes, but might grab some oriental veggies at the store including snow peas)
Quick dinner means I can finish the front of the yard that I didn't get to when Kevin had his time off.
Top on the list is getting Tom's tuition paid.

I discovered that Firefox doesn't give back RAM that it sucked up until I close it. Odd.

Some funnies and other things behind the cut.

I'm feeling better, thank you to those that held my hand. :)

If you like Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy, they have a new fragrance called "Warm Milk and Honey." Also I have coupon (it needs to be printed) that was sent to me in e-mail for a free aromatherapy item (up to $13) with any purchase of $15 or more. 13 is the normal price of an aromatherapy shower gel. If you would like it forwarded please drop me a comment or e-mail at [email protected] and I'll pass it along. It expires 21 September.

I'd like to get some of that new Black Amethyst while they still have the sale buy one, get one 50% off and are still offering the lip gloss with it. Come to think of it.. that's more than enough cover the 15 dollar purchase to get the free aromatherapy.

If you're interested in signing up for mypoints.com please let me know as I get double referral points this month!

Some of you aren't religious, so if you are offended by any references to God ala chain letter stuff, feel free to bypass.

Tuesday's plans:

Chicken for dinner
Finish the trim job in the front yard, weather permitting.
UHBS
RP in the evening

Writing and an LJ RP post.

As you might have guessed, the front yard is the first step when the weather starts cooling.

yellowrosetx: (Default)

The first post in the following is important because I spent several hours today venting, ranting and being generally angry. I still have more to get rid of, but in the meantime ... laughter helps.

Gads, I feel tired and I have no idea why! Well, maybe it's that I can see so much that needs doing around here and it's got me overwhelmed. Things like ... we need to look into having the exterior wood replaced and painted. This is Texas, weather conditions can be hard on a house. Yes, I know, I know, I can hear it now, that's not something you can fix on your own, don't let it bother you, but it does. If you own a house, you know exactly the sort of things I'm talking about here.

Just as the header above says, this is a lot of random insanity. So... here we go.

In digging through my e-mail, I realized that there a lot of freebies and discounts out there that people don't know about. For instance ... Borders has a discount card is free. You get a standard discount on purchases, specials in e-mail and what they call Borders Bucks. Walden and B. Dalton used to charge an annual membership for that sort of card.

Petsmart has a program called Petperks. It's free to sign up and they offer different discounts.

Bath and Body Works is another company that offers specials if you sign up as a frequent shopper. A lot of their coupons are things like: Buy X amount, get some item free. They have a new fragrance coming out called Black Amethyst that sounds lovely. ( Fragrance top notes: Bergamot Italian Oprur, Juicy Mandarin, Sparkling Tangerine, Zesty Orange, Waterfruits, Crisp Melon. Fragrance Mid Notes: Lily of the Valley, Magnolia Blossom, Sheer Gardenia, Tuberose, Freesia, Peony Petals, Camellia. Fragrance Base Notes: Patchouli, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Vanilla, Musk)

Pillsbury has a monthly newsletter. Their recipes include nutritional information. This is especially useful for those of us on any sort of diet. They give sneak peaks of their new magazines and have coupons to be printed.

To those that offered well wishes for my son, I thank you very much!

I need to buy more Tide. I forgot it at the store. I think there's enough to get through the pile of laundry I have waiting. I cleared up the master bedroom and bath as well as got laundry cleared up.

For Sunday, I need to get the living room picked up and hopefully all the laundry done and put up. Kitchen, office, and bill paying need to squared away by Monday night; maybe Monday afternoon. Tom needs his ID card taken care of on Monday. That's always a hassle and a long wait, so, Tuesday afternoon when he gets off work we need to get his student ID, parking permit and hit the bookstore for his books. Hopefully, all of what he needs will be in stock.

Also on my to do list are a few story notes and other projects. One thing at a time.

Some strangeness and other stuff behind the cut!

My son-in-law, Chris, calls his grandma Meme. She passed this along. I know there are at least four grandparents on my FL, the rest of y'all might get a kick out of this, too.

The weekend, so far, has been relativly peaceful for which I am grateful.

I pretty much reinstalled Windows from the bottom up. I realized that there's a lot of crap I don't use anymore hanging around. So ... away it went. I reinstalled several programs to get the works rolling again. I still need to reinstall Office and couple of other things, but I cleared a lot of old stuff out.

I learned something that might be useful to anyone that has downloaded any music from Walmart.com. Make sure you back up ALL music you got from them to audio CDs. I think the lady that renewed my licenses said the service will be ending in February, but I'm not sure. Back it up... just back it up.

Some silliness from the e-mail files: )

I have posted the funny and often strange e-mails from my cousin in PA, so here are a few more to add.

I have become addicted to a series of cute little games called Super Granny.

Monday 1:30  AM
I should be in bed, but can't sleep, yet. Nothing new there.

Tom got both of the shelves put together and one shelf of the minis was taken out to the game room. They are going to look quite nice out there.  One step at a time and things are going to look grand out there and the garage will be a lot less cluttered.

Dishwasher repair people coming out today.

Tuesday, 1: 57 AM

Tom has an interview with at a printing shop today at 10.

I have a dishwasher in a box in my living room. What's that tell you? The gasket was shot and so was the liner. Said it would be like 150 to fix.

Reading The Lady Vanishes.
Silliness, a quiz, and other commentary behind the cut )

I realized last night that I haven't posted much lately. I promised myself a week off after the wedding and I took it!

I have a to do list a mile long. Yesterday, I got most of my laundry caught up and cleaned out the master bedroom and bath. I haven't gotten to the heavy duty projects like closet cleaning, yet.

Today, more laundry ... living room and kitchen. Fun!

6:23 PM

Laundry still rolling, LR done and kitchen mostly done.

10:33 PM

I still have lots of things that need doing around the house, but other than the second bathroom and a few things in the kitchen I'm not worried about them.

Here's my to do list for the next few days.
Kitchen - fridge
Main bathroom - the works
Still more laundry (Took Tom's suit and my gown to the cleaners already)
Clean my office  (clear out crap)
Mail out bills
Post wedding photos (make CDs and mail them)
Catch up on e-mail and other correspondence
Find orange bowl for Halloween treats. Know where it is, need to get it out.
Return library materials to post and drop off gift books to hospital
Drop off Goodwill contributions.
Find out what Tom did with the gift cards for the boys.
Have Gabe's handheld game ready to give back to him.
Writing, writing, and MORE Writing!

So... here's a bit of silliness.
