I figured out why the willow trees looked off here.

Willows grow better near water so having them near a pond was fitting. Thing is, the cottage is supposed to be in the woods. Those willows looked odd all by their lonesome. I went with ash trees. Oak might have been better, but the tall trees imply that the cottage and woodlands it was built in have been around a while.  This is how the place looks within the trees that hide it.
