I'm sooooo having fun with Sims 2.

I'm still stunned as to how some of the premade families were left to begin play. Gah... it's ten soaps going on at once!! Remember the families from the first game? Goth, Bachelor, Roomies, Pleasant, and Newbie? So far, I've found connections to all of them but the Roomies. Who knows, might find them, too!

Brandi Broke is the late Bob and Betty Newbie's daughter. She was left a pregnant widow with a teenager and a toddler to raise.

Dina Caliente is Michael Bachelor's widow. Apparently Dina has a thing for old guys, she's got a thing for Mortimer Goth at the opening of Sims 2. Incidentally, Michael Bachelor and Bella Goth were brother and sister.

So far, no sign of the Roomies, but I think there are a couple of the houses that came with the game that I haven't "opened," yet.

The offspring of Jeff and Diane Pleasant are now adults with children. Jennifer is married to a dude named Jon Burb; they have a daughter, Lucy and one on the way. Daniel married a wanna be politician, has twin teenage daughters is apparently having an affair with one of the maids in town. I'd still like to know what that family did to get the neighborhood named after them.

The Goths ... well.. they are the Goths. Bella was kidnapped by aliens. Mortimer is an elder. If the game play is opened at the Goth house first, Cassandra is at the arch with a groom in waiting. Since I opened the game at the Goth house, I have no idea what was supposed to happen at the Lothario house.

Things I learned or did:
I found out that if you build on the ground, with no foundation, you can build a four floor house or community building.
I learned that roofing tools are a royal PITA.
I'm building my first community lot. It's already got a pool with playground and picnic area, grocery store, game store, game room and clothing store in progress.
I learned that you can hide certain objects in the attic, with no stairs leading there, to keep Sims away from them until they need them.
I learned that Sims seem to always end up pissing off John Burb when they use their telescope during the day.
I learned the Nanny can screw up the parents' plans with toddlers. However, you can combat that by canceling the icon of the nanny in the action list for the toddler. You may have to do it several times to get things the way you want.
I learned that twins happen when you least expect it.
I learned that it's easier to get people to marry when they live together and you have control over them.

I have a family I created that's based on a family I made for my old Sims game. Dad has the Knowledge aspiration, Mom has the Family one. They had five children, the oldest moved out, got married and is pregnant. So... that left six people in the house. What was Mom's next baby? You guessed it, after five daughters, she had a set of boy/girl twins.

Not sure what the deal is, but the odds for the girls seem higher. Some people are saying that it's all in the what goes on when you click "try for baby" option.

I have about 2 1/2 hours before I need to start dinner. I was thinking about playing Sims, but I'm not sure. I think I might post more to [livejournal.com profile] navarra before I do. I still have a lot of frustration to let out regarding a few RP events. I'm sure people will be offended, but unfortunately, that's often the only way I get points across. :/
