I hope the new year has started well for everyone!

Goal progress:

I finished at least three story pieces and have one poking at my head.
I finished the new book, The Amber Spyglass. I'm still listening to Inkspell, but I don't honestly recall if I have read it before or not! Started No Place Like Home by Fern Michaels.
I wrote two personal letters. I think e-mail should count after all as long as it's personal.
My house is in better order than normal. Why's that scare me?
Not exactly working on menus, yet, but we are using up the things in the cabinets and freezer which was the main goal.
I read two more chapters in Voyager by Diana Gabaldon
I got some work done on the photo album covers.

More stuff on the Daily Babble )

Dear Friends,

This post is about a variety of things that make me happy and or annoy me. You might see yourself in them, but not all of them are about people that read this journal. I'm going to screen the comments after this is posted. So if you have questions or comments, please feel free to post without fear of your responses being viewed by anyone but me. My LJ is open to most registered users, so.... there you have it.

Since this is developing into a long ass dissertation, it's going behind a cut.

So, here I go

Procrastination is my worst habit. Not overeating, not not exercising as much as I should.. but procrastination.  I keep putting things off. This doesn't make things easier and, sometimes, I lose the chance to do them.

I need to make a list of everyone that I want and need to write to and stick to it. There are a lot of people I should write to ... including some people that I've been avoiding for fear of hurting their feelings in some manner.

I have like 20 minutes and then it's back to housework. Sad that I just wasted like 10 staring at the screen. And people wonder why I just up and log out anymore without a goodbye? I get tired, it's no offense meant, really it's not. I just don't feel the need to continually share the fact that I'm bored off my ass, don't feel like joining in on what some of my friends are doing, and don't feel like looking at a chat screen. I'm also tired of little guilt trips being dropped. I'll get to that at another time.

Sometimes, I have Trillion on because I want to chat in IMs while I do my crafts, but I don't want to play.  I miss the days of "Is online but in a private room." I'd rather be teased about who is doing what to whom than avoided because people think I'm busy RPing or something. If I'm THAT busy, I'll log out or block. There are very few people I have on permanent block. Most of them are the... "start up the IM RP without a freaking clue of what's what" types and the other has a habit of IMming me under various SNs and then telling me if I don't want to talk to him, I can block him. Uh... I DID BLOCK. Going out of ones way to avoid that block is harassment and possibly stalking. However, no one seems to be able to get that through to the guy.

I finally finished Life Expectancy. It has quite a few plot twists that I didn't see coming, but for the sake of those that read Koontz, I won't post spoilers. There was a moment when the main character, Jimmy's, daughter says when she grows up that she wants to be a bullshit artist. It was so out of left field, considering the mostly serious tone of the book, that it cracked me up! It was about right for a precocious three or four year old that picks up on everything. Seems she overheard the mailman or somebody flirting with her great grandmother, who told the flirt he was a bullshit artist. Heh... kids... they pick up on some interesting things, no?

Things that make you go hmm.... when people post up web pages that they expect people to read, why do they use colors that clash and fonts that make people squint? Like... yellow lettering on a white page... ewwwwwww. And.. certain greens on black.. Oh, and with the new AOL Profile set up, people have to cut and paste to a new doc if they want to clear the thing to be able to read what the horrible color combos don't allow.

Current audio book is Bonfire of the Vanities by Tom Wolfe narrated by John Lithgow. John Lithgow is an actor that almost always cracks me up... Buckaroo Bonzai, John Warfin, John Bigboote... Boo-tay... ... you take it from there. It was one of those you had to have seen it to get it things.

I've been trying to emphasize the good things in life of late, but sometimes, you just have to let out what's honking you off. At the suggestion of [livejournal.com profile] muse, several years ago, I started writing down things that goad me in letter form. Whether or not the person I'm angry with or hurt by ever reads it doesn't matter, what matters is that the feelings get purged and the poison leaves me. That's a been helpful activity that often gives me an insight into myself as well as others. And let this serve as a reminder or a warning that some of those might be posted in the next few days and it also serves as a reminder that these are not necessarily people that read my journal.

drained. And, yet, somehow, I feel charged up.

I had my ortho appointment followed by a PT consult this morning. My surgeon says that I'm healed enough to start working on putting full weight on the ankle again. I'm supposed to continue wearing the walking boot for support until I'm comfortable. I've been using it outside the house and this is good. I wear it a few hours inside as well.

I started getting my house back in order. Of the public areas of the house, my kitchen needs a good going over. Next week, I hope to get the den, Tom's room and bathroom cleared out next week. I did my office last night. I also got the bills written and on their way.

Tom was supposed to go away for the weekend, but plans apparently changed and they are going next weekend. So, tomorrow, we go to the post office in the AM to mail about 4 boxes. I still haven't finished the quilt or blanket, yet, but they should be done this week.

An old habit that I need to get back into is writing at least one personal letter a day.

I keep seeing all this stuff that needs doing that I'm not quite able to handle, yet, and it's driving me bonkers. I will feel much better once the kitchen is cleared out. That may or may not be a weekend project. Truth is, all that needs doing are dishes, counter tops, microwaves, fridge dump, and floor. I need to switch out my laundry in a little bit. Towels need drying.

I've got a story or two rumbling in my read.

That is all ... for now.
