Apr. 24th, 2005 05:40 pmJust another day...
Jan. 2nd, 2005 11:00 pmSome guy on the IDMB boards was going on about being an archaeologist and how the Anglo-Saxons were masters of poetry and other beautiful works. Well, Henry VIII is credited with writing the beautiful "Greensleeves," but he was known as one of history's womanizers. The funny thing is... if he had followed the lead of his counterparts on the continent and took mistresses then a few heads might have remained on shoulders.
What one digs up in cemeteries is usually how people honor their own dead and that of their allies. Enemies were generally treated differently. However, the one valid point that most people miss is unless they, themselves, were there to bear witness to an event, all they can do is read or interpret the accounts of those that were present.
Cleaning spree
Mar. 7th, 2002 04:43 amLa Llorona is a legend with many facets. Mostly the legend deals with spirits of women that have lost their children, sadly, some by their own hand.
I posted something in ROOC about people that don't respect your feelings about giving out your personal info and such. If you encounter someone that doesn't respect that you don't open readily because of past experience, run and fast. That's pretty much all I'm going to say on that subject for the moment.
Sometimes as parents, we have to do a lot of things we don't like. While my son is prepared for what will be going down in our house next week, my daughter isn't. Major clean out of their rooms is coming, usual spring deal, but with a twist. If they don't keep them up to par, they will be locked out of their rooms and will have to be let into their bathroom, because I'm tired of not seeing the floor in any of these places. Frankly, a 14 yr old and an 18 year old should bloody well be able to grasp the concept of not leaving dirty clothes on the floor, making their beds and putting away what they use in their bathroom when they are finished. That's the tip of the iceberg. CAll me cruel.. call me mean.. but call me fed up. On the good side, Wednesday is the first day I didn't have to tell either of my kids to take their coats, etc. out of the living room and put them way. Maybe they can still be taught.
I have a laundry room to clean out. That's the last common area inside the house I need to clean up. Once the inside is done, the garage is next. The garage that has needed to be cleaned out and gets half cleaned, more crap piled in and half cleaned again, is a project that needs to be squared by the end of May. Mostly, because it will be too hot to work out there between June and mid-September. While that's being done, there's some yardwork that needs to be tended to.
I have a lot of those little things on my personal
"to do" checklist as well as the "what needs to be done with the IRS refund"
list.
The IRS list includes:
Car repairs (tune up, etc.)
New bedroom door (not a hollow one)
Repair the florescent light fixture in the kitchen
Toy of choice that my other half wants is either a PS2, X-box or a Warhammer
army: Dwarves, I think.
If anything is left after that, it's going to pay off credit card debt.
I started writing a list of things I need to get done
every day. I'm amazed and how much quicker things get done when I'm not feeling
clueless on one of those bad memory days.
Today's projects are:
Sort out the catch all table behind my workstation
Clean the carpet in the same area
Dishes
Laundry
Straighten the bookcases in my "office"
1 PM Dentist
Call about dropping a few things off for Gabe and picking up some info for
the family tree.
Clean out the printer area
Balance checkbook
Find a copier repair shop.
General pick up (which means back track and pick up anything in an area already
through spring cleaning)
Pick up dry cleaning.
Mind you... these are my plans for the day. My
husband mentioned a movie. So.... who knows, might hit the movie today
and some of the list will have to wait until Friday, but for the weekend,
I just want to chill and work on my stitchery.
Kilts and romance
