It's a semi-normal day around here. However, it's not everyday that you have spent 27 years with someone. Anniversary 27. Scary, huh?

Last night I sat out with the candy as I usually do. We got at least 60 trick or treaters, but we live in a primarily military neighborhood so there are lots of kids around. I sat out for two reasons, dog and ditch. No doorbell or knocking means the pooch stays relatively quiet. Sitting out means that the kids don't cross the yard, where we have a drainage ditch they can fall into. Thankfully, in Texas it's warm in October to someone that grew up in PA. I ended up with a sweater on. Not because I was cold, but because the mosquitoes wanted to eat me!

Cutest costume was a tie between a toddler girl dressed as a poodle and a four or five year  boy old dressed Harry Potter. Most adorable trick or treater was a little girl dressed as Jeannie (I Dream of Jeannie). She did that crossed arms and popped the ponytail thing just like Barbara Eden did in the TV show! Most original costume I saw was a reporter, she was dressed to the nines in heels and carrying a microphone and interviewed people. Prettiest one was a salsa dancer, the dress reminded me of Rose's ball gown in Titanic.

The Jeannie thing prompted me to look up Barbara Eden. Ms. Eden, IMO, is a classic beauty. I doubt she's ever had a bit of plastic surgery and is still lovely in her seventies.  Brittany Spears and a few others should take a lesson there.

Mattel's Jeannie Barbie is one I'd like to get my hands on some day.

And who knew that that the "I Dream of Jeannie" theme had lyrics? Doesn't really surprise me since Star Trek and Bonanza did. That brings back memories. My grandfather used to watch  Bonanza and Gunsmoke every Sunday night. Anyone of the family was welcome to watch, but it was an unspoken rule that you didn't  talk while in the TV room. If you wanted to socialize, you went into the kitchen.

I actually remember the words to the Bonanza theme song.... :)

But I do not remember any thing about the lyrics of I Dream of Jeannie and Star Trek

The lyrics were written, but never used for either of those shows that I recall. I remember reading that the "old man" of Star Trek, Gene Rodenberry had written the ones for what's now called "Classic Trek."

P.S.

If you hit that link in the post there's a clip of Lorne Greene singing the Bonanza theme. :)

Happy anniversary to you guys too!

Happy anniversary to you! :)

11/01/80. We had wanted Halloween because it fits us, but circumstances changed that. My husband likes to tell this story about how our very small wedding was bumped by a funeral, but the truth is that Halloween fell on a Friday and he had classes, so we were married on All Saints Day instead of Halloween.

That's awesome that you guys have been together for so long. Congrats. :)

Sounds like you had a great time with the trick or treaters. My neighborhood was so quiet. I think that parents have been taking kids to the mall instead of taking them to the streets.

I didn't know that those shows had lyrics. Used to love watching "I Dream of Jeannie".

Thanks!

We have a safe Halloween party downtown, but for some folks that would require a mile walk or so to town and an uphill walk back. So, they do the neighborhood. One of the families up the street does a haunted house every year.

i'm not a cynic, but this is what's what.

I agree that Barbara Eden is lovely, but she's had plenty of work done. Most actresses beyond the age of forty have. Those who seem "well-preserved" don't do it just due to amazing skin-care regimens. There's only so much that a healthy diet and sunscreen can help. The knife is subtle and easily disguised these days, and not that expensive. One way to tell is looking at the height of the eyebrows.

Happy anniversary!!

I think Barbara Eden has had some work done, but she still looks good, unlike some women who get terrible work done or get too much done.

Susan Lucci (Erica from All My Children) is another actress that has aged well. She's had to have had some work done but it's done so well it's really hard to point anything out as an indicator that she's had work done.

Thank you!

We all should look so good at 73, right?

Susan Lucci has aged day by day before the cameras, it'd be hard to miss changes under the critical eye of the camera. Whatever work she's had done is very subtle and very good. Come to think of it, she's one of the few actress that has been in the same role since its inseption.
